About Orlando’s Craft Beer Scene
“Orlando’s beer scene has definitely seen a slow and steady growth with a lot of newer breweries,” shares Glenn Closson, co-founder of Ivanhoe Park Brewing Company in the Ivanhoe Village Main Street District. He calls Orlando “a staple city to check out a variety of different beer styles and overall taproom experiences.”
Visit any major Orlando pour house and you’ll quickly see what he means. “We feature eight Central Florida and 22 Florida breweries,” says Kristi Davis, managing partner at City Works Eatery & Pour House, part of Disney Springs®. “We have over 80 beers on tap, and we would definitely recommend getting a beer flight so that you can enjoy up to four different beers of your choosing.”
“Orlando has a lot of fresh new faces that are creating some amazing beers,” adds Closson. “We all work together and collaborate to help the industry grow in the Central Florida area.” We’ll cheers to that.

Orlando-Inspired Beer by Ivanhoe Park Brewing Company
Nestled near the shore, with a patio overlooking Lake Ivanhoe and scenic Gaston Edwards Park, Ivanhoe Park Brewing Company offers several beers inspired by Orlando’s neighborhoods, sports teams and more. It’s named after Ivanhoe Park (later renamed Joyland), an amusement park that operated on the shores of Lake Ivanhoe in the 1900s.

“From the beginning, we always wanted our core beers to encapsulate the history of Ivanhoe Village,” says Closson. “When we come up with new beer names and styles, we do try to tie back to that history, but we have also done some fun ones that aren't specifically [tied to] the history and just more so something the staff have a passion for.”
Joyland American IPA
One of four core brews, Joyland is a hoppy American IPA named for one of Orlando’s first amusement parks. It’s brewed with American malt and hops and has a slightly dry finish.
Park Hopp’r Golden Pilsner
Crisp, clean and refreshing, the Park Hopp’r golden pilsner pays homage to vibrant Orlando communities like Ivanhoe Park, College Park, Baldwin Park, Audubon Park Garden District, Thornton Park and Winter Park. “Orlando has such a fun history beyond the parks and their Main Street program is like no other,” says Closson. “Park Hopp'r was created with hopping around the Orlando neighborhoods [in mind]. We did hope that it would bring the attention from theme park hopping to enjoying what our local Main Streets and Park Districts have to offer.”
