Inside Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios®

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is located inside the Chinese Theatre, on the opposite end of Hollywood Boulevard from the entrance to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. You won’t have any trouble finding it: Just look for the brightly colored neon marquee beckoning you into the Chinese Theatre’s lobby!

Once inside, you’ll be directed to an indoor theater screening a brand-new animated short created just for this attraction. Titled Perfect Picnic, the cartoon stars Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Pluto. Before you know it, Engineer Goofy makes a rather explosive entrance, after which you’ll be invited to board his train.

From there, it’s a whirlwind ride through a cartoon world where the rules of physics don’t apply, packed with unexpected twists, slapstick gags and mind-boggling transformations at every turn. At the same time, the experience is suitable for all ages and sizes, which means the whole family can enjoy it together.

Die-hard Disney fans will also be glad to know that Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway sets a world record for “hidden Mickeys” at a Disney attraction or area — and digs deep into Disney history! The sound made by the ride’s train was created using the same historic instrument that served as the steamboat whistle in Mickey and Minnie’s first-ever animated short, 1928’s Steamboat Willie. As Goofy himself would say: Golly!

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is the newest attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but it’s far from the only fresh reason to include Walt Disney World Resort’s movies-focused theme park in your Orlando vacation plans.
