Orlando is home to scores of powerful heroes, and we’re not just talking about men. Female legends stand tall at theme parks and attractions throughout the destination, providing magically empowering experiences for women of all ages — and the men who love them.
Featuring the Justice League’s Wonder Woman at Madame Tussauds Orlando, the ruling Queen at Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament, acclaimed author Zora Neale Hurston, and the power players of the Orlando Pride soccer team — not to mention Redd at Walt Disney World® Resort and other theme park heroines — here’s your guide to the leading ladies of Orlando.

The Queen at Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament
Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament made history when Queen Dona Maria Isabelle replaced the dinner show’s long-running King. Presented as the daughter of her predecessor, Medieval Times’ current regent is giving women all-new reasons to cheer.

The Queen wasn’t the only change at Medieval Times, which also gained hundreds of new costumes — including 200 fresh suits of armor — plus updated dialogue and storylines, resulting in a refreshed experience for guests. All of which makes us say: Long live the Queen.
The Superstars of the Orlando Pride
Orlando loves soccer — or European football, if you prefer — and we have the teams to prove it! Part of the National Women’s Soccer League since 2016, the Orlando Pride play at Exploria Stadium in downtown Orlando, which is also home to their male counterparts in Orlando City Soccer Club.

Top players include internationally renowned players Marta and Adriana, goalkeeper Erin McLeod, and others. You can witness them all right here in Orlando.
Zora Neale Hurston
As already seen in this blog, most heroes don’t wear capes. Some prefer hats, including acclaimed, ever-stylish African American author Zora Neale Hurston. Best known for her 1937 novel, Their Eyes Were Watching God, Hurston grew up in the oldest all-Black municipality still in existence today: historic Eatonville, just north of Orlando. The town celebrates Hurston’s influence and works at the Zora Neale Hurston National Museum of Fine Arts, where admission is always free (donations are encouraged).

Eatonville also hosts the annual ZORA!® Festival Season, encompassing a wide range of programming that kicks off every January. One of the season’s most popular events is October’s HATitude Cultural Flair, which pays homage to Hurston’s love of haberdashery while benefiting academic programs for students.
Walt Disney World® Resort
After decades of being auctioned at Magic Kingdom® Park’s Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, the famous Redhead — now officially known as Redd — made headlines in 2018 when she flipped the script by becoming the auctioneer. Now that she’s in charge, the auction deals in objects and livestock instead of humans. What’s more, Redd isn’t the only powerful female at Disney’s premier Orlando theme park.
