American Adventures
Celebrate America 250 like a real patriot in Orlando. Our theme parks and attractions provide plenty of ways to commemorate the milestone in style — including Captain America sightings, quality time with U.S. presidents and much more.
Fireworks are as American as apple pie, and you never have to wait for Independence Day or New Year’s Eve to see them in Orlando. Catch dazzling displays every night of the year, weather permitting, thanks to fireworks and light shows at our world-famous theme parks.
Catch the Sentinel of Liberty himself at Universal Orlando Resort. When he isn’t battling the forces of Hydra, Captain America is part of the lineup of comic book legends who walk the streets of Marvel Super Hero Island® at Universal Islands of Adventure.
Starting May 26, EPCOT® at Walt Disney World® Resort invites you to take a simulated flight across the United States — from sea to shining sea — with Soarin’ Across America. Be part of this limited-time journey that honors the heart and spirit of the nation as it soars into its 250th birthday celebration, complete with all the iconic elements that make Soarin’ unforgettable.
Who better to celebrate America’s history with than past and present U.S. presidents? At Walt Disney World® Resort, The Hall of Presidents at Magic Kingdom® Park provides a unique opportunity to see, and in some cases hear, animatronic versions of the nation’s leaders. In addition to the centerpiece, 25-minute experience, the attraction also offers a self-guided tour of various replicas and artifacts from U.S. history.
Soar like an eagle — an American bald eagle, of course — on the Fun Spot America Freedom Flyer. The suspended steel roller coaster is part of the lineup of family-friendly attractions at Fun Spot’s Orlando location on International Drive, which also includes the red, white and blue Firecracker. While Fun Spot’s Kissimmee location near Walt Disney World doesn’t have a Freedom Flyer, you can still fly like America’s mascot courtesy of its Screaming Eagles attraction. Both locations also feature an America-themed funhouse and patriotically painted HeadRush 360.
Snap a selfie with America’s founding fathers, step into a replica of the Oval Office, and discover great Americans throughout history at Madame Tussauds at ICON Park®. You’ll find past and present U.S. presidents like Abraham Lincoln, plus notable figures like Martin Luther King Jr. and Neil Armstrong.
Space exploration has been a major part of the American experience for more than half a century, and you can explore its past, present and future at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, about an hour from Orlando on Florida’s Space Coast.
Plus, starting July 1, 2026, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex will host a dynamic lineup of events celebrating the curiosity, courage and innovation that continue to define America’s journey into space. In addition to the month-long “250 Space Dreams” experience, special happenings include:
- Anniversary of the Kennedy Space Center Bus Tour (July 22)
- All-American Block Party (July 3 – 5)
- STS-135 Anniversary — ATLANTIS’ Last Flight (July 10 -12)
- Moon Fest (July 17 – 19), and
- American Aviation Weekend (July 31 – Aug. 2).
The Orlando area provides many opportunities to see the American bald eagle in natural settings — particularly when you book passage on our boat tours and rides. For fast-paced action, look into Black Hammock Airboat & Pontoon Rides, Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures, Crazy Gator Airboat Tours, Spirit of the Swamp Airboat Rides, Tom & Jerry’s Airboat Rides, and Wild Florida. If you prefer a more leisurely pace, the Winter Park Scenic Boat Tour offers a relaxing, one-hour cruise through the waterways of its charming namesake city.
As part of its America 250 exhibit, the Winter Garden Heritage Museum in downtown Winter Garden invites you to sign an oversized birthday card to our country. The card features a U.S. map, with visitors encouraged to drop their John Hancock on whichever state they hail from. Don’t be surprised when you see how full Florida is!

Uncover Orlando History
To hear some people tell it, Orlando’s history didn’t begin until WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort opened in 1971 — but the fact is, the region’s rich past can be traced back to 1776 and beyond.
