The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes: The Family-Friendly Golf Getaway
The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes is a dream destination for many, especially golf enthusiasts. On property, you’ll find The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, offering a PGA-level course where many greats have played and been crowned champions during the PNC Championship weekend. It’s also a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. But what makes The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club even more special, in our eyes, is that it’s one of the most family-friendly golf experiences in the area.
Your junior golfer (age 15 or younger) can join you on the course for 50% off the rack rate with a paying adult before 3 p.m. or play at no cost after 3 p.m. Clubs for junior golfers are included with their round. Make it a family affair and enjoy a world-renowned course with amazing scenery and an abundance of wildlife. And if not everyone in your family golfs? No worries, there are plenty of activities and amenities for them to enjoy while the golfers tee off.
More to Explore: Our Stay and Play Golf Experience at The Ritz-Carlton Orlando
My family of five recently checked into The Ritz for a long weekend of golf, sunshine and family time. Our stay and play included a father-daughter round of golf with my husband Jared and our 8-year-old daughter, who began golfing at just 3 years old. Though she’s still learning, she had fun and loved exploring the golf course with her dad. It helps that she has taken lessons, which are also offered at The Ritz-Carlton with Larry Tinker, who teaches groups, couples, singles and kids. They also host summer camps, so if you’re visiting in the summer, be sure to check the schedule and give your junior golfer a chance to learn!
After their round, we met for lunch at Fairways Pub. The food was delicious, and it was the perfect way to wrap up a great morning. Our day concluded at the onsite pool and Grande Lakes water park, where we all got to unwind and relax. We enjoyed room service that night and it was delightful; a perfect ending to our family day of fun throughout the Grande Lakes property.
Family Travel Tip: During the day, you can also enroll your kids in Ritz Kids Care, which provides half-day or full-day childcare options for kids ages 4 – 12. This can be a great way to keep the younger kids engaged while you enjoy a round of golf with the older kids and adults in your party. Check with the front desk for details and booking upon arrival.
Orange County National Golf Center: Golf for the Whole Family Near Walt Disney World® Resort
If you're looking for another family-friendly course to fit into your Orlando vacation, Orange County National Golf Center is just minutes from Walt Disney World® Resort, and absolutely worth a visit. This course recently hosted a LIV Tour Championship Weekend, where some of the best golfers in the world gathered to play.
I play, my husband has played his whole life, and naturally, our kids have been riding in golf carts since they were born. Sometimes we need a course that can accommodate the whole party, and Orange County National is our go-to. Here’s why:
- It’s home to the largest driving range in the world — a 42-acre, 360-degree circular driving range.
- It features not just one, but two championship courses, plus a 9-hole par-3 course, perfect for beginners and junior golfers.
- Panther Lake, one of our favorite courses, features rare Florida elevation and fun terrain — plus a hot dog stand near Hole 1 that you revisit halfway through your round. The kids loved this little treat!
We brought all the littles, and they provided us with a four-person golf cart, which was a game-changer. You can also rent clubs if needed for yourself and your junior golfers. They even have a small lodge on property if you’re looking to do a stay-and-play focused solely on golf.
Orange County National is a fun, welcoming, course that encourages families to play together. We saw multiple families and kids playing during our visit. They offer lessons and have a well-lit, enormous putting green for all day fun. There’s also an onsite cafe, perfect for grabbing some food after a full day of golf. With three courses to choose from, golf enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels are welcome here, and you feel it from the moment you walk in. They truly encourage golf instruction for kids of all ages!
Grand Cypress Golf Club at Evermore Orlando: Great for Beginners
When I think of beginner-friendly courses, I always come back to Grand Cypress Golf Club. Located on the property of Evermore Orlando Resort, Grand Cypress offers two courses: The junior-friendly Links Course and The New Course, which is a dream for seasoned golf lovers.
The newly redeveloped courses are ideal for helping junior golfers sharpen their skills and enjoy the experience. We were blown away by the amount of wildlife we encountered during our round. It felt like a nature walk and golf round in one! If your kids are comfortable taking on the challenge of The New Course, go for it. If they want something exciting as they begin their golf journey, opt for The Links Course.
You can rent clubs for both adults and juniors when you book your tee time or upon arrival at the pro shop. During the summer, they offer junior golf camps for ages 7–14, a great opportunity for younger players to learn or improve their game! Located near everything in the heart of Orlando's major attractions, offering amazing views of Evermore Orlando Resort and Orlando’s natural beauty, this is an amazing course to play!
Hawk’s Landing Golf Club at Orlando World Center Marriott: A Fun Challenge
Rounding out our list is Hawk’s Landing Golf Club at Orlando World Center Marriott. This course is fun, challenging, and packed with surprises, making it exciting for experienced players and fun for juniors who are up for an adventure. Water hazards are everywhere, so definitely pack extra balls! The 18th hole is an island green, which adds a dramatic finish to the round.
Hawk’s Landing also participates in Youth on Course, allowing registered juniors (ages 6 – 18) to play for just $5. After 3 p.m., juniors can join a paying adult at no cost, and club rentals are available if needed. Be sure to check in with the pro shop about lesson availability, as offerings vary throughout the year. If you and your junior golfer are up for the challenge, this is the course that will put their newly acquired skills to the test.
Hawk’s Landing Golf Course is a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, indicating its commitment to environmental quality. Every hole is named after local Florida wildlife, with incredible views from the island green. It’s a fun and engaging course for all golfers!
Golfing as a Family in Orlando
We’ve loved visiting these courses as a family and in a year, we’ll have three junior golfers out there with us. Visiting Orlando may be about theme parks for some, but for golf-loving families, it’s also a sporting paradise. If there’s a golf lover in your crew, now you have several options to turn your Orlando trip into a family golf getaway.
Introducing our kids to golf at these courses (and others across Orlando) has given us something we can enjoy together. It’s been especially meaningful to my husband, who gets to share the sport he loves with our children. As a family of golfers of all ages and skill levels, we can't wait to keep discovering new courses and revisiting these favorites, all of which truly make family-friendly golf experiences a top priority and call Orlando home.
