Affordable Ways to Get Around Orlando

I-Ride Trolley

No need to break the bank to get around town in Orlando. Our affordable and convenient transportation includes the I-Ride Trolley, which will guide you through many of the prime destinations in the International Drive (I-Drive) Entertainment District. Whether you’re taking photos with your favorite celebrities at Madame Tussauds Orlando wax museum, part of ICON Park®, or turning your world upside down at WonderWorks, an indoor amusement park for the mind at Pointe Orlando, the trolley will only cost a maximum of $2 to hop on. (Kids aged 3 – 9 only pay $1.) Multi-trip passes range from $6 for one day to $20 for two full weeks, making it the perfect option for a fun day, week or more on I-Drive.

MEARS Connect

Mears Transportation launched as a taxi service back in 1939, making them one of the oldest transportation companies in Orlando. Now a full-fledged fleet, Mears has become an integral part of the city’s transit thanks to their MEARS Connect program that offers affordable shuttle rides to and from Orlando International Airport and Disney Resorts Collection properties at Walt Disney World® Resort, plus Disney Springs® and other select hotels in the Walt Disney World area. They also offer custom solutions for families and groups.

LYNX

Orlando’s LYNX bus service is convenience at its finest, offering highly affordable transportation across Central Florida including Orange, Seminole, Osceola and Lake counties, plus parts of Polk and Volusia counties. Single rides cost only $2 and day passes are $4.50. Reduced fares are offered to students, seniors and those with disabilities when you apply for a LYNX-issued ID, granting you half-off admission. Note that LYNX buses are also a great way to explore Orlando Main Street Districts and other neighborhoods.

SunRail

SunRail has been servicing the Central Florida area since 2014 and is one of the most affordable methods to travel the area. The train service operates across four counties — Volusia, Seminole, Orange and Osceola — and only costs $2 to get on for a one-way, one-county trip, or $3.75 for one-county round-trip. Prices increase marginally if you are traveling across multiple counties, but you will never pay more than $9.50 for a roundtrip ticket, and the pass is good for the whole day. Youth aged 7 – 18, seniors and riders with special needs can enjoy 50% off regular fare and kids 6 and under ride free. SunRail is primarily available on weekdays but also offers weekend service for select major events.

Affordable Ways to Get to Orlando

Brightline

Brightline is Orlando’s shiny new transportation service, providing rapid rail travel from and to South Florida. Given the service’s speed and luxuriousness, a common misperception is that it must be costly, but you would be surprised at how many discounts they offer. First, their SMART Saver fares start at $59 per person. If you are traveling with kids ages 3 – 12, you can get 25% off their fares when purchasing any adult SMART Saver or SMART fare. (Younger children ride free.) Educators and students are also eligible for a 25% discount off SMART and SMART Saver fares. Check the website often, too, as they typically offer dates where groups of three or more can get 50% discount off their SMART fares.

Budget Airlines & Flight Specials

If you’re flying to Orlando, numerous budget airlines provide service to Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB). At MCO, they include Spirit Airlines, Allegiant Air, Breeze Airways, Frontier Airlines and Southwest Airlines. No matter who you’re flying with, keep an eye out for special pricing and promotions for select flights and time periods throughout the year. And if you’re coming from overseas, check to see what your favorite tour operators have on offer.

Amtrak

Amtrak has been transporting guests around the country since 1971, making them one of the most reliable providers of transportation services to Orlando. For families, infants under 2 ride for free and children aged 2 – 12 pay 50% off rail fare when accompanied by an adult. If you’re traveling with a group, Amtrak Share Fares will discount up to 60% off (for a party of eight) of each ticket when booked together. Special discounts are also available for seniors, military, students and passengers with disabilities.

Greyhound / RedCoach

If you’re looking for the most affordable travel option and are in no rush, Greyhound is the way to go. Get on a Greyhound with 10 or more and you could be eligible for a group discount. If you prefer to have a little more leg room and like to make it to your destination quicker, then RedCoach is more your speed. While RedCoach is a premium service, students, seniors and military personnel can look forward to 10% discounts. Kids aged 3 – 12 also get a 15% discount off their fare, and groups of three or more can save up to 25% off their trip.
