Orlando Sports, Recreation & Outdoors

Sure, Orlando is best known for its world-famous theme parks, but our city is full of unique outdoor attractions and sporting activities that everyone can enjoy. Between the massive, state-of-the-art United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Campus, the NFL Pro Bowl, professional sports teams, acclaimed golf courses and tournaments, miles of running terrain, pristine fishing spots, and other outdoor adventures for the whole family, Orlando is the premier destination for sportspeople of all ages.

NFL Pro Bowl and College Bowl Games

In January, the NFL Pro Bowl at Camping World Stadium brings a celebration of American football to Orlando, providing players, coaches, families and fans with a full week of gridiron activities, challenges and fun.

Before the game, Pro Bowl Week gives everyone the chance to watch and even participate in a variety of events, including youth football clinics, the NFL Flag Championship, Pro Bowl player practices, skills challenges and the free, interactive NFL Pro Bowl Experience at Walt Disney World® Resort’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

Headed by Florida Citrus Sports, Camping World Stadium is also home to some of the nation’s biggest college football competitions. The games and their scheduled months include:

Open to the public, and less than 20 minutes from Orlando International Airport, the USTA National Campus in Lake Nona invites tennis enthusiasts of all skill levels and ages to watch, learn and play at one of the world’s largest tennis facilities.

Outdoor courts at the USTA National Campus

Spread across the campus’ 64 acres, you’ll discover 100 tennis courts, including hard and red-clay surfaces, providing an unbeatable array of options for players. Whether you’re a player or coach, beginner or expert, or even a spectator, you’ll enjoy unparalleled tennis experiences at this one-of-a-kind location.

Orlando Magic and Orlando City Soccer

If you love basketball and soccer, you’re going to love Orlando. Although they’re a relatively new addition to the region’s sports offerings, Orlando City Soccer has taken the city by storm, and their ultramodern Orlando City Stadium in downtown Orlando is an unbeatable place to catch MLS and related matches.

Also downtown, the Amway Center hosts the NBA’s Orlando Magic, which plays a minimum of 44 home games each year. Both venues offer numerous seating options, as well as gourmet food and beverage services for watching games in style.

With more than 170 golf courses and numerous golf academies, it’s no surprise that so many golfers love Orlando. In fact, the area is home to more pro golfers than any other city in the world. Several pros have even designed local courses, including Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman and Tom Fazio, to name a few.

We also host prestigious golf tournaments, including the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club & Lodge. Attracting some of golf’s biggest names, the annual event takes place in March.

Bring your best running shoes when you come to Orlando, because our miles of trails, parks and roadways will have you feeling the need for speed. You can also stock up on related equipment at boutique shops and well-known chains.

For a real challenge, consider our marathons, the most famous of which is the Walt Disney World Marathon. Held in January, the 26.2-mile run takes you through all four Disney theme parks and the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, with plenty of magical surprises along the way.

With miles of rivers, lakes and canals — not to mention the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico just an hour away on either coast — the Orlando area offers unforgettable action for anglers of all skill levels. At Walt Disney World, for example, you can fish the Seven Seas Lagoon courtesy of Walt Disney World Fishing, where options include two-hour guided trips, kid’s fishing and even canoe pole fishing.

You can also go bass fishing on a private lake at Revolution Off Road, reserve a unique charter with Indian River Queen & Island Boat Lines, or drop a line at local, state and national parks, among other choices. You don’t even need to bring a pole with you, as you’ll find many opportunities to rent equipment throughout the area.
