Orlando Campgrounds

With more than 121,000 rooms at over 450 hotels and resorts, as well as vacation-home rentals and ownership properties, you’ll find plenty of accommodations in Orlando — and many will cater to your every dream and desire. But what if you’re one of those hardy souls who, rather than stay in the lap of luxury, would prefer to “rough it” while communing with the great outdoors?

Don’t worry: Our campgrounds have you covered, too!

Of course, this being Orlando, even campgrounds are imbued with a certain magic — particularly Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground at Walt Disney World Resort. Amid its bucolic nature trails and wooded areas, you’ll see deer, rabbits, armadillos and other charming creatures, all within easy reach of Disney’s world-famous theme parks. Feel free to bring your own furry friends, too, as pets are permitted at select campsites.

Able to accommodate everything from tiny tents to full-size RVs, Fort Wilderness’ campsites boast water, TV and electrical hookups, as well as a picnic table, a charcoal grill and privacy-enhancing landscaping. Many sites even have sewer hookups. You’ll also have access to the resort’s pool, plus unique recreational opportunities such as horseback riding, canoeing and archery.

Not rough enough for you? Head to Wekiwa Springs State Park in Apopka, about 30 minutes northwest of downtown Orlando. Situated at the headwaters of the Wekiva River, it offers fishing, swimming, canoeing and kayaking, as well as 13 miles of trails for hiking, bicycling or even horseback riding. Also, the park’s camping options range from primitive sites to a full-facility campground, and they’re all pet-friendly.

You’ll find many other campgrounds and RV sites both to the north of downtown Orlando and in Kissimmee, close to Walt Disney World. Best of all, no matter where you choose to camp, you’ll be close to everything you came to experience in Orlando!
