ACCOMMODATIONS

Drury Plaza Hotel Orlando Lake Buena Vista, the new official Walt Disney World Hotel located in the Disney Springs Resort Area, is set to open October 2022. The new property will feature complimentary hot breakfast, shuttle service to all four Walt Disney World Theme Parks, evening snacks and beverages and more.

Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort will feature a “Stay Longer-Fourth Night Free” package, offering a complimentary fourth night with every three paid nights from May 1 - Sept. 30.

ATTRACTIONS

Gatorland’s photographer’s pass program returns for 2022, offering 10 select dates in March, April and May that allow early admission to Gatorland’s Bird Rookery boardwalks, providing birders and photographers close access to capture the spring birding season. 

Madame Tussauds Orlando has debuted an all-new wax figure - pop music icon, Ariana Grande. The statue features all of Ariana’s renown visible tattoos, signature high ponytail and an outfit inspired by her nine-month long “Sweetener” tour.

Aquatica Orlando’s new water slide experience, Reef Plunge, is now open. The attraction includes twists and turns though over 330 feet of fiberglass, where guests zoom past an array of marine life in a dynamic habitat housing Commerson’s dolphins, leopard sharks, sardines and a variety of other cold-water fish.

AREA15, an award-winning immersive and experiential art, entertainment, dining and retail district, will debut in the heart of Orlando’s tourism corridor in 2024. Designed for visitors of all ages, the new complex will feature distinctive attractions, interactive art installations and ground-breaking technology, along with an ever-changing roster of concert events and much more.

The Serenity Garden at Wekiwa Springs State Park, an all-new, 1-acre garden offering a unique sensory experience for people of all abilities and special needs to encounter nature, broke ground for phase one of its construction. Once complete, the garden will include a water feature, an adult changing facility, accessible parking, a raised boardwalk and a nature center.

DINING & NIGHTLIFE

Immersion at London House by Chef Rikku Ó'Donnchü, a new boutique restaurant located in members-only club, London House, will open to the public on April 2. The tasting menu-only concept will feature a sensorial dining experience focused on science, climate change, sustainable farming and zero waste, where texture, scents and sounds are as important as taste.

Chick’nCone, a global chain specializing in handheld waffles stuffed with fried chicken, will open its first Central Florida location this month in Winter Park. The restaurant, offering a spin on chicken and waffles, features six sauces, freshly made waffle cones and milkshakes.

CrunCheese Korean Hot Dog, a Las Vegas-based concept, will open at the Waterford Lakes Town Center this spring, featuring Korean-style hot dogs in various flavors including rice cake, squid ink and the famous potato hot dog rolled in sugar.

EDOBOY, Orlando’s first standing sushi bar, will open this spring in the Mills District behind Tori Tori. Founded by Domu and Tori Tori proprietor, Sean “Sonny” Nguyen, the concept will feature an eight-person bar offering a selection of nigiri sushi along with hand roll options.

Walt Disney World Resort announced Victoria & Albert’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will reopen later this year.

Swirls on the Water, an all-new kiosk located at Disney Springs, is now open, featuring signature items like DOLE Whip Lime & Habanero Soft-serve Nachos; a 50th Celebration Cone with a DOLE Whip lemon and cookie dough soft serve swirl; a DOLE Whip Flight featuring all six of the featured swirl favors; and a Sangria Float for those over 21.

Local Green Orlando, an all-new food truck offering, is now open at Disney Springs featuring a combination of plant-based, vegetarian and pescatarian dishes, including Monsta shrimp burger, Bubba Sparxx vegan pulled BBQ sandwich and Elote Street Corn.

Anqor Lounge, a Ukrainian-owned tearoom and hookah bar offering light bites, is now open in the Dellagio Town Center in Dr. Phillips.

The Moderne, a new upscale, late-night lounge serving Asian-inspired tapas and craft cocktails, will open in the Mills 50 district this fall. The restaurant, from Maki Hibachi’s Michael Nguyen, will feature an art deco design.

Bellhop, a new bar concept from the owners of The Wildflower in Baldwin Park, is slated to open this spring on the first floor of the historic Angebilt Hotel in downtown Orlando. The new bar will be a coffee bar by day and an elevated cocktail lounge by night.

Taverna Opa at Pointe Orlando will provide a free glass of house wine with the purchase of any lamb entrée on Easter Sunday, April 17. This offer will also be available from 12-10 p.m. on April 24 for Greek Easter, when a limited amount of tsougrisma will be available for the chance to experience the Greek tradition of cracking red eggs for good luck. The full menu will be available both nights, with belly dancing entertainment beginning at 7 p.m. 

The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers, an Indiana-based table service restaurant and bakery, will open a new location at Disney’s BoardWalk in Walt Disney World Resort in 2023. The restaurant will offer savory and sweet options, along with afternoon tea service, in a whimsical atmosphere.

EVENTS & FESTIVALS

Ivanhoe Village will host its second annual Sip into Spring Wine Walk on March 26, featuring 15 different locations made up of local Ivanhoe Village Main Street businesses. Each participating vendor will remain open for extended shopping hours through the event alongside 20 other pop-up vendors located throughout the district. Tickets can be purchased on the Ivanhoe Village website starting at $40 per person.

The 28th annual Taste of Oviedo presented by Advent Health, a family-friendly community outdoor festival, will take place March 26, featuring a lineup of entertainment, food and beverage from local eateries, the Oviedo Roots Farmer’s Market and more.

The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts announced new additions to this season’s lineup including performances from award-winning actor, director, producer and writer Chris Rock on July 27 as he continues his Ego Death World Tour, and chart-topping Colombian singer-songwriter Sebastián Yatra on Sept. 30, who will perform in the Walt Disney Theater.

Harry P. Leu Gardens will feature “Dragons & Fairies,” a new theatrical experience taking audiences on a journey through a world of adventure through March 27. The experience features large-scale lighting installations, live actors, beautiful costumes, nine animatronic dragons and additional surprises.  

Renaissance Theatre Company presents Gorgeous, playing through April 10 at the Ren in Loch Haven Park. The new full-length musical by Donald Rupe, loosely inspired by the cult classic movie “Drop Dead Gorgeous,” tells the story of the Ms. Golden Boot Pageant in St. Crowd, Florida.

The Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens will host the 14th annual Winter Park Paint Out April 24-30. The free, week-long festival invites guests to watch professionally acclaimed plein air artists at work, view their recently completed paintings in the museum gallery, and attend free painting demonstrations. Artwork created during the event will be available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds supporting the museum.

Walt Disney World Resort debuted an all-new garden at the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival inspired by the Madrigal family from “Encanto,” the new film from Walt Disney Animation Studios, and its female characters, Julieta, Isabela, Luisa and Mirabel, along with a path inspired by Antonio, the youngest member of the Madrigal family.

Opera Orlando will close its 2021-22 season with Rigoletto on April 22 and 24. The performance, which portrays the story of a deformed court jester caught in a snare of corruption, lust, and vengeance, will be the first opera eve presented in the new Steinmetz Hall at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts’ AdventHealth Broadway in Orlando 22/23 season lineup will bring the best of Broadway to the Walt Disney Theater with eight new and two previously announced shows including Hamilton, SIX, Tina - The Tina Turner Musical, Pretty Woman: The Musical, Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, Chicago, My Fair Lady and Beetlejuice.  

TRANSPORTATION

GoPegasus announced the second installation of Art on Wheels, a new showcase to display local, Central Florida artists’ creations on a moving canvas. In this install, the Orlando-based artist, Lemus, was inspired by his two children who are both Leos – characterized with a powerful spirit which always comes through no matter the difficulty of a situation. Launched in partnership with the Orlando City Soccer Foundation at their City Art Jam unveiling, the 2022 official jersey, the lion, is the focal point of for this piece. 

The Orlando International Airport (MCO) unveiled new details of the South Terminal C facility set to open this year, including the debut of the next generation of The Orlando Experience, a seamless, low-touch environment with an exciting combination of concession offerings; immersive media displays and an unparalleled sense of arrival; an Early Bag Storage robotic system; and a state-of-the-art Radio Frequency
Identification Technology (RFID) tote system that tracks luggage in real-time and is faster than
conventional baggage conveyor systems. The project is being designed and built to be the first LEED®v4 airport campus and will provide passengers with access to several indoor spaces that promote sustainability.
