Benoit Glazer: Suite for Camille
The Concert features a short piano piece based on Debussy’s Gradus ad Parnassum, which she loved, as well as a three movement horn piece that starts with a motif from the Strauss 2nd Horn Concerto, and whose 3rd movement is adapted from Benoit’s own Petite Pièce Québécoise. It opens with a solo viola piece taken from a Bach Violin Sonata that she modified as a teenager, later used in a film soundtrack. There is also a viola and piano duet inspired by the Bartok Viola Concerto, a Jobim song, and a Prokofiev piano sonata. As Camille also sang, there will also be a song setting lyrics she wrote when 15.
