Pompeii: The Immortal City in Richmond

Pompeii: The Immortal City is a breathtaking exhibition of rare artifacts, artwork, jewelry, and sculpture along with replicas that recreate what life was like in this glorious ancient city. Orlando Science Center is the last stop on the exhibit’s US tour so it will be your only opportunity to witness the majesty of Pompeii without actually traveling to Italy. Plunge into the heart of the drama as the city is buried by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD. Spectacular immersive moments allow you to experience the destruction of the city and to identify with the inhabitants of that time, immobilized by the volcano’s ashes.

Play the role of archaeologist through the use of digital interactives and replicas of artifacts from Pompeii. Compare life then to it now and better understand how far we have come, but also discover how much technology and culture is eerily similar to those ancient people.
