A little over forty years ago, our organization began with the vision of one woman- Tess Wise.

Wise, a Holocaust survivor from Poland knew that her life, her experience, and her story mattered. She sought to elevate those survivors' voices, tell their stories, educate, and empower future generations, so that they would recognize what can happen when hate goes unchecked and when good people are silent.

While we are encouraged in knowing that the recent spate of neo-Nazi marches and other forms of intimidation tactics do not represent the people of the greater Orlando area, incidents of hate speech and violence are increasing here and around the world. The goal of the Holocaust Center is to use history to build a just and caring community, free of antisemitism and all forms of hate, prejudice, and bigotry.

The Center has provided an unparalleled resource for people of all ages and backgrounds to visit, reflect and grow. We welcome students, community members, and tourists to our informative museum and education center in Maitland, and encourage all to keep an eye on the progress for our future new Holocaust Museum in downtown Orlando.
