NBC Sports Grill & Brew is open at Universal CityWalk in Orlando.

The gloves are off! Despite opening eight, new Universal CityWalk venues in the last year, Universal Orlando Resort isn't letting the destination's self-proclaimed "year of dining and entertainment" end without placing a full-court press on the dining in Orlando scene featuring a lineup of swanky restaurants with celebrity names and James Beard Award nominations.

Known for broadcasting the first televised World Series, NBC Sports has brought its rich history and the full color and excitement of today's sports world to life with the first-ever NBC Sports Grill & Brew — a restaurant that feels more like a luxury suite at your favorite stadium than a sports bar.

The main event (aka "grand opening") took place the evening of Oct. 22, when famed sportscasters Bob Costas, Cris Collinsworth, Hines Ward and Michele Tafoya led other dignitaries, invited guests and media in an opening celebration of Orlando's newest restaurant.

"Orlando is a great place to bring NBC Sports to life because people come for theme parks and entertainment so you might have a lot of kids with families who have a natural interest in sports, and this is right here in the heart of that," according to Costas.

"This is the greatest area in the world. People come from all over to be in this wonderful and happy place and I know that NBC Sports is proud to be in Orlando," says Collinsworth.

Whether you're in between Wizarding-World-of-Harry-Potter experiences with the family or enjoying a night out with friends, this place has it all. Giant HD TVs (and lots of them). An extensive and wide-ranging menu of food and drink. Great views of Universal CityWalk from its indoor-outdoor beer garden. Private dining for groups. Heck, the team of smiling and attentive hosts and hostesses at the opening night event even wore blue blazers right out of NBC's 30 Rock home!

Like in the NFL, if you're going to be a superstar, you need to get the blocking and tackling right. If you're a restaurant, that means you've got to have great food. The expansive menu features more than 75 items, including everything from filet mignon and grilled shrimp skewers to fresh salads and fire-grilled chicken wings. For those who want to "go deep," there's even a seven-layer "Big Banana Cake." Stretching is on your own.

Draft season is every day at NBC Sports Grill & Brew, where more than 100 unique beers range from craft beers to regional brews.

"The best name in sports is NBC Sports. It's an elevated experience. So we have elevated our experience by providing the best in food, along with over one hundred beers, to create the NBC Sports Grill and Brew," says Modesto Alcala, Vice President of Universal CityWalk.

Big and bold, with clean lines of sophistication, the two-story restaurant wraps around and beneath a giant, hanging collection of big-screen televisions that you'd find above center court in a professional arena. At NBC Sports Grill & Brew, the centerpiece of streaming sports coverage floats above an open kitchen with custom fire grills. Nearly 100 HD screens display the best in live and in-depth sports coverage for all patrons, no matter where they sit.
