From scenic routes to rolling hills, Orlando has a bike trail for everyone.

Orlando was recently named as the No. 1 city in the United States for recreation, and it comes as no surprise. From year-round sunshine and gorgeous parks to over 150 miles of paved trails, Orlando has plenty of outdoor options for everyone, including cycling enthusiasts of all kinds.

Enjoy a Bike Tour in Orlando

If you love to hop on a bike and explore your surroundings, bike tours provide a wonderful way to get to know Orlando from a different perspective during your stay. You can easily explore the beauty of downtown Orlando, enjoy the scenery of Winter Park (think lakes, canals and tree canopies galore just 20 minutes northeast of Orlando), and have fun riding through the technical dirt trails in Apopka (a short 30 miles northwest of Orlando).

One of my favorite routes goes along the Urban Bike Trail through Orlando's Loch Haven Park, home of "The Mayor" — a stately live oak tree that was around when the Constitution was signed. Because there are museums nearby (The Mennello Museum of American Art and Orlando Museum of Art), you are also treated to outdoor artwork along the way. After your tour, if you are craving more, ask for a digital route you can follow on your smart phone.

Another great option is the 22-mile-long West Orange Trail, which takes you through urban and suburban parts of Orange County. Be sure to plan a pit stop in historic Winter Garden (just 14 miles west of Orlando) for ice cream and a splash pad for the kids. For a grownup indulgence, treat yourself to craft brew from Crooked Can Brewing Company located inside Plant Street Market (also in Winter Garden), a food market featuring more than 20 local vendors.
