Signature Luncheon Update
Our Visit Orlando membership community is very important to us. Therefore, we wanted to keep in touch with you on the measures we are currently taking relative to COVID-19 and our signature luncheons. With careful consideration of restrictions of all gatherings, reports from leading health organizations and shelter-in-place restrictions due to COVID-19, we have made the decision to cancel our Celebrating Travel & Tourism Luncheon scheduled for May 7. While it is disappointing to cancel an important member event, current protocols make it impossible to move forward. We will continue to monitor the situation and let you know of our plans related to the Business Insights Luncheon annually held in August.
New Orlando-themed Zoom Backgrounds
In a new campaign, Visit Orlando is encouraging people around the world to host their virtual get-togethers in Orlando with custom Zoom backgrounds featuring famous locations! Check out the backgrounds.
Events Calendar
Visit Orlando is working to keep our Events Calendar updated, and we need your help! If you’ve previously submitted an event that has been postponed or canceled, please confirm that we no longer have it listed on its original date and contact us with any needed changes. Also, if you’re hosting any upcoming virtual events, let us know and we’ll be happy to add it to the calendar. Please send the information to Nate.Shelton@visitorlando.com.
Call for Masks
For any members who have wardrobe skills, Orlando Health has let us know they are now accepting homemade masks. While the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) does not consider the homemade masks a substitute for surgical masks or N-95 respirators, cloth masks may slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus in people who may not yet know they have COVID-19. Visit Orlando will be promoting to consumers all the creative new ways our members are helping educate kids at home. With millions of children currently being home-schooled, parents around the globe are searching for out-of-the-box educational activities to keep their kids entertained and engaged. Opportunity - #407 Days
Due to the overwhelming response we received around #407Day, Orlando To GO, Visit Orlando and Orange County have extended the initiative all month long and renamed as “#407Days”. We will continue to create fun new angles to promote these businesses, and will be asking for your help.
To keep this initiative going, we want to create and share little cell phone videos that spotlight the great work all of the restaurants are doing. We need each restaurant to shoot a video on a phone (preferably shot vertically) of any of the following:
- Fun or interesting footage showing your employees working hard cooking, serving takeout, curbside or making deliveries (the more unique the better!)
- Moment of gratitude – a small ‘thank you’ message to the people who are supporting your restaurant (can be done verbally or holding a sign that says thank you)
- Yummy footage of an interesting dish - or cocktail - your restaurant/team is creating
- The video should be very short - :15 max – as we will composite it together into a single video to distribute. Please email your video to media@visitorlando.com.
