Visit Orlando is working hard to promote travel to our destination with programs that reach consumers, travel advisers and meeting planners. Below are a few of the high-profile activities we're doing right now, and we encourage you and your business to join us in these efforts.
Save the Date: Visit Orlando's Annual Meeting
Visit Orlando’s Annual Meeting will be held virtually Thursday, Dec. 10, from 2 to 3 p.m.
We're pleased to be able to bring you an engaging online experience that will include a live vote for our 2021 Board of Directors, an important industry update, how Visit Orlando plans to support you and your business in the coming year, and an exciting community donation from this year’s Magical Dining. Stay tuned for a link to register.
Virtual SuperFAM for Travel Advisers
This week, we showcased Orlando vacations to more than 2,400 travel advisers from across the globe in our first-ever "Virtual SuperFAM." Several businesses joined us to share the latest destination news, including health and safety protocols from our theme parks, attractions, hotels and resorts, and shopping retailers.
The three-day "Orlando Awaits!" event featured interactive panels and informative presentations to keep our destination top of mind when travel advisers in the U.S., Canada, UK and other key markets book trips for their clients.
A big thank you to our many presenters: Disney Springs, The Florida Mall, Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort, Frontier Airlines, FunSpot America, ICON Park, JW Marriott Bonnet Creek, The Mall at Millenia, SeaWorld Orlando, Spirit Airlines, Universal Orlando Resort, and Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Resort.
Sharing In-Depth Safety Info with Travelers
Make sure to share with potential guests our newly expanded Orlando Awaits webpage for details on how our entire destination has adapted to meet modern travel needs, keeping visitors safe so they can focus on having fun. We outline how health and safety enhancements begin at Orlando International Airport and continue through every aspect of a visitor’s stay, from ground transportation to hotels, restaurants, theme parks and attractions, and more.
Focusing on the Florida Market
Florida residents continue to play a leading role in our destination's recovery. To reach this important demographic, we're launching an in-state e-newsletter that will be delivered to 50,000+ opt-in consumers actively engaged on our various marketing channels. Contact Terri.Dougherty@visitorlando.com for advertising opportunities in the November and December editions. Complementing this push, we continue to ramp up in-state publicity on all there is to do in Orlando through regular media pitches, press releases and a bi-weekly tip sheet of story ideas to 230+ media and influencers. Our goal is to keep them updated on what is new and changing, including unexpected things to do in Orlando. Got a good story idea or news to share? Email us at media@visitorlando.com.
Make your final reservation today as Visit Orlando's Magical Dining wraps up Oct. 31 after an unprecedented two-month run. Based on the feedback we’ve received from our 70-plus participating restaurants, this year’s event has been especially beneficial to their business and employees during these difficult times. For a delicious, three-course meal for just $35, check out our checklist of restaurant locations, and remember one dollar from each meal supports Feed the Need Florida. Join us at our Annual Meeting Dec. 10 for a special presentation of total funds raised for this worthwhile charity.
Hotels: Metro Orlando's occupancy rate is staying steady, ending the week of Oct. 24 at 35.4%, virtually unchanged from the previous week’s 35.7%. Average daily rate fell $2.65 to $84.01. Air Travel: Commercial air travel among Americans is slowly losing the perception of being unsafe (this week 55% said it was unsafe vs. 81% in early April). In fact, 20% have flown since the start of the pandemic and more than a third plan to take an air trip in the next six months. Read more Last Days to Enjoy Visit Orlando's Magical Dining
