Universal Volcano Bay is coming to Orlando in 2017.

Most everyone may be gearing up for winter, but Universal Orlando Resort has us all wanting to grab our bathing suits and sunscreen with their new water theme park, Universal Volcano Bay. Set to open in early summer 2017, Universal Volcano Bay is where leisure and adventure collide to form an unforgettable, splash-worthy experience for any guest to enjoy.

Let’s dive into the details as to why you should be getting excited about this new water theme park.

Krakatau Volcano

One of the most awe-inspiring features of Volcano Bay is the 200-foot Krakatau volcano. When day turns to night, it becomes illuminated and creates a spectacular display that can be seen around the entire park.

Krakatau Aqua Coaster

All thrill-seekers rejoice with the inclusion of the Krakatau Aqua Coaster! This coaster is a game changer, with it being the first-of-its-kind in Florida using linear induction motor technology that is also used in the Revenge of the Mummy ride at Universal Studios Florida. Get ready for twists and turns on Krakatau. This coaster plunges down dark passageways where you’ll then be launched upwards and downwards through the interior peaks and valleys of the volcano and propelled through waterfalls. Who wouldn't love this?

Serenity and Sun

Serenity and sun can be enjoyed at the Wave Village located at the base of Krakatau. Sunbathers will find plenty of room to relax and soak in some rays on the sandy shores of Waturi Beach. Private one- or two-story cabanas offer privacy with views of the beach and wave pool. Calm waters can be found at an adjacent pool called The Reef.

Family Fun for Everyone

From lazy rivers with gentle currents to racing torrents with whitewater rapids; from whimsical play areas for kids to breathtaking raft rides with zero-gravity drops, Universal Volcano Bay has something for everyone. The attractions throughout the park will provide a mix and match assortment of experiences for anyone willing to take the plunge into family fun.

Eliminate the Wait

With this park, Universal Orlando Resort introduces a new way to eliminate the wait with the TapuTapu wearable technology. When you arrive to the park, you'll receive a TapuTapu wearable (at no extra charge) that will allow you to do the following with a simple tap:

  • Virtual Lines: You will be able to virtually wait in line while you play in other areas of the park. The wearable will alert you when it's time for you to ride so you can head to the attraction.
  • Tap to Play: Universal Volcano Bay features various "tap-to-play" experiences — all designed exclusively by Universal Orlando Resort's award-winning creative team. With just a tap of TapuTapu, you'll be able to trigger special effects throughout the park. You can control streams of water spurting from whales in Tot Tiki Reef, shoot water cannons at other guests snaking down Kopiko Wai Winding River, and illuminate images in the volcano's hidden caves.
