Orlando's dining scene is increasingly heralded, earning endorsements from The New York Times, Forbes and other national news sources in 2018 alone. Fall offers a seasonal explosion of events for a dream foodie vacation — starting with Visit Orlando's Magical Dining® Month sponsored by American Express, which returns from Aug. 24 through Sept. 30.

During this popular program's 13th year, more than 100 of Central Florida's top restaurants will offer three-course, prix-fixe dinner menus for just $35 per person. In addition to many returning favorites, 2018's lineup features nearly 20 restaurants that have never previously participated, including several that have opened in the past year. Other food events taking place in Orlando this fall include:

  • Epcot International Food & Wine Festival at Walt Disney World Resort (Aug. 30 - Nov. 12): Sip and savor cuisine, wine and libations from around the globe during the 23rd year of this world-famous celebration, which is included with regular admission to Epcot. New additions for 2018 include a Disney Character dance party, a mimosa bar, first-time appearances by 10 celebrity chefs and personalities, and fresh dishes at Global Marketplaces.

  • Craft Beer Festival at SeaWorld Orlando (Nov. 3-11): New for 2018, and included with regular admission, this beverage bonanza will feature 100-plus draft beers from Florida breweries, plus select domestic and international craft favorites. The event will also offer more than 20 unique food items designed to pair perfectly with the brew selection.

Orlando is ready to scare up a ghoulishly good time this Halloween with spooky soirees and freaky fun. Here's a rundown of 2018's most happening haunts:

  • Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando® Resort (Sept. 14 – Nov. 3): Held on select evenings, this separate-ticketed event will include a haunted house based on Netflix's mega-hit Stranger Things, giving you the chance to experience the Upside Down parallel universe firsthand. Several other haunted houses and scare zones will also be available.

  • Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Disney's Magic Kingdom (Aug. 17 – Oct. 31): On select nights, enjoy trick-or-treating, jack-o-lanterns, not-so-scary characters and family-friendly entertainment at this separate-ticketed celebration. End the night with a "boo-tacular" fireworks show after enjoying supernatural surprises throughout the park.

  • Halloween Spooktacular at SeaWorld® Orlando (Sept. 22 – Oct. 28): Included with regular admission, this weekend-only celebration returns with family-friendly trick-or-treating, not-so-spooky live shows, whimsical sea creatures, playtime fun and more.

  • Brick or Treat at LEGOLAND® Florida Resort (Oct. 6-31): Build an unforgettable Halloween for all ages with larger-than-life LEGO models, a costume parade, trick-or-treating, a themed fireworks show and other surprises at this event, which is included with regular admission on weekends and Halloween day.

  • Spooky Empire (Oct. 26-28): The nation's largest horror convention will host celebrity guests David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson of The X-Files, Kathy Najimy of Disney's Hocus Pocus and others, as well as a tattoo festival, costume contest, zombie walk and film festival.

  • Rock the Universe at Universal Studios FloridaTM (Sept. 7-8): Jam out to spiritual sounds at Florida's largest Christian music festival, a separate-ticketed event featuring 14 acts that include Grammy winners Chris Tomlin and Lecrae, among others.

  • Praise Wave at SeaWorld Orlando (Sept. 15 & 22): SeaWorld's popular Christian music event returns for two days this year, with both editions offering a day of fellowship and fun. Multi-platinum artist Michael W. Smith will be the featured musician on Sept. 15, with the Grammy-nominated Newsboys performing on Sept. 22. Included with regular park admission, concerts will take place at 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. on both days.

  • Winter Park Autumn Art Festival (Oct. 13-14): Free to attend, this juried, outdoor art show features work by outstanding Florida artists, live entertainment, creative workshops and food from local restaurants. Winter Park is about 20 minutes northeast of downtown Orlando.

  • Orlando Film Festival (Oct. 18-25): During this event, enjoy great films in exciting venues around downtown Orlando while experiencing the area's lifestyle. The festival is designed to inspire students, as well as future and current filmmakers, by focusing on the art of filmmaking and ways to enhance the movie-viewing experience.

  • IMMERSE (Oct. 19-20): Enter a world where artists break past the stage and invite you into their performances at this downtown Orlando festival, which is expanding to two days this year. More than 1,000 diverse artists and performers bring the heart of the city to life with interactive shows, art installations and inspiring live performances.
