See what's coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom in Orlando.


Additional details have been officially announced about the land currently under construction at Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park at Walt Disney World® Resort themed to the blockbuster James Cameron movie, Avatar. As revealed at the D23 conference in California, the theme park is undergoing a major expansion that will add an entire new land, Pandora — The World of AVATAR, along with new attractions that will make the once-daytime-only theme park come alive at night.

Here's a sneak peek at what's to come beginning in spring 2016:

Rivers of Light: Expected to open next spring, this will be an innovative, multi-sensory nighttime show, combining live performers, floating lanterns, water screens and swirling animal imagery. A new area within footsteps of Expedition Everest is being constructed to allow for unobstructed views of the show.

Kilimanjaro Safaris: One the park's original and most popular attractions will be extended for a new nighttime adventure next spring. The African savanna will include enhanced lighting effects along with a two new animal exhibits for African wild dogs and hyenas.

Pandora — The World of Avatar: Opening in 2017, the new land will transport guests into the lush alien world of Pandora from the 2009 film, AVATAR. Visual elements from the movie are being brought to life, including floating mountains, a bioluminescent forest and the flying Banshees.

Avatar Flight of Passage: The new land will feature a signature attraction that allows guests to soar on a Banshee over a vast alien world. The spectacular flying experience will give guests a bird’s-eye view of the beauty and grandeur of the world of Pandora.
