But as Orlando residents and many destination visitors know, our local restaurants are equally incredible, thanks to award-winning culinary masterminds who are dedicated to seasonal menus and the farm-to-table movement.

Accordingly, if you're a serious foodie who's coming to Orlando, you'll want to visit the downtown area and surrounding neighborhoods, including Thornton Park and Winter Park. Breakfast/BrunchSe7en Bites: After dining all over Orlando's tourism district the day before, it's time to eat like a local. Found in Orlando's trendy Milk District neighborhood not far from downtown, this from-scratch eatery specializes in nostalgic Southern comfort food, particularly breakfast and brunch fare.

Mid-Morning FunPark Avenue: Just 20 minutes from downtown Orlando, Winter Park is known for its brick streets, quaint shops, inspiring museums and delicious eateries, the bulk of which can be found along this tree-lined street. Try some smaller offerings at a range of culinary hotspots, from Umi Japanese Restaurant to Mon Petit Chéri.

LunchThe Rusty Spoon: Head back to downtown Orlando for lunch at this eatery on Church Street. It's owned and operated by multiple James Beard-nominee Chef Kathleen Blake, whose insistence on fresh, local ingredients netted the eatery seven Silver Spoon awards in 2014. As an alternate, Soco Restaurant in nearby Thornton Park is headed by award-winning Chef Greg Richie and focuses on gourmet Southern gems.

Afternoon Activities — Orlando Breweries: Besides being a foodie paradise, Orlando is also home to a burgeoning craft beer community. Central Florida's oldest in that regard is downtown's Orlando Brewing, which offers free tours. And in the adjacent Ivanhoe Village district, Ten10 Brewing Co. has food in addition to house brews. While you're in the area, you can also stroll through automotive history while enjoying more to eat and drink at Ace Cafe Orlando.

First DinnerLuma on Park: The winner of multiple awards, Brandon McGlamery is one of Orlando's most acclaimed chefs. You can also taste his creations at Winter Park's Prato and Luke's Kitchen and Bar in Maitland, but if you only have room in your schedule for one of them, make it this stylish spot in Winter Park.

If you're looking to stay in downtown Orlando, try Kasa Restaurant & Bar, which is adjacent to a movie theater for added entertainment, or The Boheme inside the Grand Bohemian Hotel, which showcases original works of art throughout.

Second DinnerArtisan's Table: Yes, a second dinner. Take a quick jaunt back to downtown Orlando (or down the street if you're already in the area) for this intimate, foodie-friendly eatery, which features a constantly evolving menu with locally sourced ingredients. In fact, their offerings are so fresh, the menu has been known to change daily.

DessertBetter Than Sex: This adults-only, sit-down dessert restaurant is in Ivanhoe Village, adjacent to downtown Orlando. With gorgeous décor, cozy booths, romantic lighting and out-of-this-world sweets, it's "food porn" at its best. However, reservations are strongly recommended. If you have kids with you, we suggest staying at Artisan's Table and trying their daily dessert creations.

Nightcap — Downtown Orlando: As long as you're downtown, you can cap off the night at any number of popular clubs and lounges throughout the vicinity. If you're interested in doing some bar-hopping, head to Wall St. Plaza, featuring The Hen House, Waitiki and other bars, or Church Street., which is home to Latitudes, Chillers and others.
