Manager of Finance

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Assists in coordinating and implementing the Visit Orlando’s finance and administration policies and procedures to ensure complete, accurate and timeliness of financial records for internal management and required external reporting.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Supervises three accounting staff and operations on a day-to-day basis to ensure accurate and timely recognition of financial transactions.
  • Answers employee questions, resolves work related problems and interprets Visit Orlando policies to staff to improve the quality and quantity of work performed.
  • Acts as primary liaison between Visit Orlando team and Finance staff to resolve operational issues and questions.  Consults with Director of Finance when appropriate.
  • Supports Director of Finance with research, special projects, and requests.
  • Assists the Director of Finance with the annual financial and 401(K) audits and the preparation of the 990 tax filings.
  • Assists in training staff in use of new and revised accounting software in a timely manner.
  • Performs detailed review of departmental general ledgers monthly to facilitate financial statement preparation and identify adjustments to financial statements.
  • Monitors daily cash flow and initiates wire transfers and ACH transfers as needed.
  • Ensures the preparation of monthly schedules for the Balance Sheet account balances to general ledger and makes journal entries to recognize activities in the proper period in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Reconciles all bank accounts; records account maintenance fees, interest income and merchant fees each month.
  • Ensures own work area is maintained in a safe and clean manner.
  • Performs other accounting tasks and projects as assigned.

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS

Three accounting positions with specialties in various areas:  Senior Accounting Specialist, Accounts Payable Administrator, and Accounts Receivable Administrator.

ACCOUNTABILITIES FOR SUPERVISION

  • Participates in decisions related to the selection, promotion, transfer, pay and discipline of assigned personnel.
  • Oversees and personally conducts training for new employees to ensure established procedures are clearly understood and followed.
  • Monitors the work performance of assigned personnel on a continual basis, conducts effective performance appraisals and takes corrective action whenever necessary.
  • Creates a working climate in which assigned personnel are motivated to develop their skills and abilities and demonstrates by personal example the desired standards of conduct and work performance.
  • Administers company policies in a fair and equitable manner regarding discipline, tardiness, absenteeism or insubordination and fully documents all incidents and actions taken.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university (accounting major preferred); a minimum of 7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills

Intermediate to advanced computer skills in Access, Excel, Outlook and Word.  Must have extensive experience and be proficient using a recognized payroll and/or accounting software systems (Business Central and Ultipro, preferred).

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.

Work Environment

The environment for this job is typical for an office and does not result in exposure to conditions outside of the normal office environment.
