About Visit Orlando
Visit Orlando globally brands and markets Orlando as the premier leisure and business travel destination. Visit Orlando is a 501(c)(6) trade association and governed by a Board of Directors that is elected by its membership and consists of representatives from the tourism industry, local community organizations, Orange County and the City of Orlando.
During 2009, Orlando welcomed 46.6 million visitors, the second best year on record. On average, these visitors generate more than $30 billion annually for the regional economy. The economic impact of these visitors is also evident in the workforce — the tourism industry accounts for nearly 400,000 direct and induced jobs throughout Central Florida.
Visit Orlando receives funding from Orange County’s Tourist Development Tax (TDT) to pay for its sales and marketing activities. In addition, the TDT collected from destination visitors have contributed significantly to the funding of the Amway Arena, Florida Citrus Bowl and the Orange County Convention Center. Looking forward, our visitors will help pay for new community projects such as the construction of the new Orlando Events Center.
