‘Life’ at Orlando Science Center

Part of Loch Haven Park in Orlando’s Ivanhoe Village Main Street district, Orlando Science Center will debut its newest exhibit, “Life,” in spring 2024. Featuring three distinctive and immersive habitats — swamp, ocean and tropical rain forest — and with 300 animals from around the world, the exhibit is designed to amaze, entertain and educate how humans impact the environment.

Judson’s Live at Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts

The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts opened its fifth venue on February 6, 2024. The Joyce & Judson Green Room, known as Judson’s Live, is an intimate, 150-seat music space that brings international, national and regional artists to the heart of downtown Orlando’s City District. FAUNE Augmented Reality (AR) Installation

Snap! Orlando’s CITY UNSEEN℠ presents FAUNE, a series of 10 large-format outdoor posters created by world-renowned digital artists Adrien Mondot and Claire Bardainne, installed throughout the city and revealed in 3D augmented reality. Available exclusively via the FAUNE app for Apple and Android devices, the installations will be on view in downtown Orlando’s City District through January 2025, and in the Parramore District’s Creative Village and Lake Nona through April 2024.

Villatel Orlando Resort

Part of the International Drive Entertainment District, aka I-Drive, Villatel Orlando Resort begins a phased opening in 2024. It will offer private villa rentals featuring hotel-style standards. The property will also feature resort-style amenities — including an adventure waterpark with multi-story slides and a lazy river — plus a fully equipped fitness center, full-service restaurant and children’s playgrounds. Upon completion in 2025, the entire resort will have 526 units, comprising 256 apartment-style suites and 270 grand single-family homes of varied sizes, as well as themed kids’ bedrooms and entertainment spaces.

The Alfond Inn

Owned by Rollins College, The Alfond Inn in Winter Park completed an extensive renovation, adding a new wing with 71 guestrooms, lobby cafe and additional meeting space. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the boutique property added a new full-service spa with seven treatment rooms, including saunas, aromatherapy steam rooms and experience showers, that opens onto a new 6,000-square-foot Amenity Deck with a swimming pool (the hotel’s second) and private cabanas, as well as a shaded canopy that covers an extensive outside living room. The hotel directs all net operating income to Rollins College scholarships to support its philanthropic mission.

The BANDBOX Expansion

A spirit-free speakeasy in Orlando’s Ivanhoe Village Main Street district, The BANDBOX will expand in the new year. The bar will partner with a local coffee company to offer a variety of coffee and tea options by day and a sober speakeasy by night. The expansion will also feature a larger bottle shop and retail selection.

Stadium Club

Caribe Royale Orlando has debuted Stadium Club: a high-tech, immersive, experiential sports and dining venue. The one-of-a-kind, all-ages experience seamlessly blends the exhilaration of sports with the allure of high-energy entertainment, alongside an elevated, chef-driven menu of upscale takes on classic dishes and cocktails. It features eight pro-level sports simulators, two bars and several areas for private events.

Arcade Monsters

New to the I-Drive area, Arcade Monsters serves classic bar food such as hot dogs, loaded fries and pizza. The purchase of a wristband enables visitors of all ages to play unlimited classic arcade games.

Bar Kada

A new concept by Michael Collantes, chef and owner of the One-MICHELIN-Star Soseki Modern Omakase, will open in February in downtown Orlando. Bar Kada will be an intimate, 30-seat sake and wine lounge with a focus on small plates, ancient sakes and low-intervention wines overseen by MICHELIN “Sommelier of the Year” Benjamin Coutts. It will also offer experiences like classes and pairing dinners.

The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers

An Indiana-based table service restaurant and bakery, The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers will open a new location at Disney’s BoardWalk in 2024. The restaurant will offer savory and sweet options, along with afternoon tea service, in a whimsical atmosphere.

Chuck Lager America’s Tavern

Known for craft bourbons, Chuck Lager America’s Tavern from Top Chef alumnus Fabio Viviani features nachos, burgers, flatbreads and tacos. Their eighth location is set for Orlando’s I-Drive district.

Crush Yard Pickleball Club & Restaurant

A pickleball-centric food and entertainment complex backed by NFL stars such as Rob Gronkowski, Crush Yard is set to open in Kissimmee. Expect a mix of healthy and indulgent options with Southern flair, plus opportunities to play and watch pickleball.

EET

An all-new, modern Indian restaurant by James Beard Award-winning chef and Food Network star Mantee Chauhan, EET has opened at Disney Springs.

Flûtes Champagne Bar

A 40-seat French-inspired champagne bar, Flûtes will celebrate the timeless art of champagne making in a sophisticated and luxurious environment. Nestled in the heart of Winter Park, the bar will bring the elegance, culture and flavors of France with a curated selection of exquisite champagnes.

Mid Drive Dive

An all-new mid-century modern-inspired restaurant and bar serving American classics, Mid Drive Dive is set to open in Orlando’s College Park Main Street district. The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner along with brunch on weekends, featuring American classic snacks, salads, sandwiches and mains.

At Destination D23 2023, it was announced that beginning Oct. 16, 2023, Walt Disney World Resort guests visiting EPCOT will be able to voyage into an all-new adventure with Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana. Guests can explore a beautifully landscaped walking trail with fun and surprises around each turn, as they engage with water in magical ways like Moana did with the ocean.
