The Orlando Eye at I-Drive 360 Cover

Orlando's newest major retail, dining and entertainment complex, I-Drive 360 has altered Orlando's skyline forever with its large observation wheel. This new attraction that you can see from all over Orlando is the Orlando Eye where guests can enjoy the sights from 400 feet (122 m) in the air.

Day or night, "flyers" will enjoy a breathtaking experience as they soar high above International Drive in Orlando to get an aerial view of our world famous theme parks, downtown Orlando and Kennedy Space Center, on a clear day.

The massive attraction anchors the newest development to join the International Drive experience and includes the new Madame Tussauds and SEA LIFE Aquarium Orlando.

Here are some flying fun facts about the new Orlando Eye in Orlando:

  • The Orlando Eye is the tallest observational wheel on the United States East Coast
  • The highest point is 400 feet (122 m) high
  • The speed of the pods rotate at one mile (1.6 km) per hour
  • The total structure weighs approximately 3,000,000 pounds, that is 1,500 tons or equivalent to 300 school buses 
  • At more than 80,000 pounds (36,287 kg), the wheel hub weighs more than a Boeing 737
  • Each of the 30 capsule weighs 6,600 pounds, or the average weight of an Indian elephant
  • More than 64,000 color-changing LEDs were installed onto the wheel, providing a variety of color options to celebrate holidays and other special occasions
  • The LEDs use 92.7% less energy than traditional light bulbs
