Universal Orlando Resort has announced new attractions based on King Kong and Nintendo.

"Imagine if you will, an uncharted island only thought to exist in myth: Skull Island." This week, Universal Orlando Resort announced that in 2016, they will bring the adventurous story of King Kong to life to thrill guests at Universal Islands of Adventure in Orlando. This news was then followed by an announcement to create all-new, Nintendo-themed attractions at Universal's theme parks.

Skull Island: Reign of Kong

For the first time since the closure of the original Kongfrontation attraction at Universal Studios Florida in 2002, guests will be able to come face-to-face with this colossal character known in his world as "the eighth wonder of the world."

Based on the 2005 reboot of the classic 1933 feature film, Skull Island: Reign of Kong will take guests on a thrilling excursion into the island's mysterious jungles, where they will have to confront gargantuan dangers as they enter the lair of King Kong and finally encounter the giant beast himself.

The new attraction is slated to open summer of 2016 and will continue to extend this 82-year-old legend in thrilling ways the original filmmakers could have never imagined.

Nintendo Partners with Universal Parks & Resorts

As if the news of a new King Kong attraction wasn't enough, Universal Orlando has followed up with another big announcement: a partnership with popular video game maker Nintendo.

The agreement will bring to life the popular characters and imaginary worlds that have become legendary trademarks of the Nintendo brand. Fans will be able to immerse themselves and live out the adventures that, up until now, have only been played on their Nintendo game systems.

Nintendo and Universal are staying mum on the specific details, but based on this announcement, we can hope for exciting attractions that will revolve around their current and nostalgic video games.

Universal Orlando Resort has recently been through a period of major expansion with the introduction of Diagon Alley at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ new dining and retail offerings at Universal CityWalk, and the opening of Universal's Cabana Bay Beach Resort.

Visit Orlando will continue to provide up to date developments as the resort property develops new attractions for guests seeking thrilling vacations in Orlando.
