Orlando brings on spring as grills fire up and the bands warm up for Bands, Brew & BBQ at SeaWorld Orlando. This annual event brings fabulous food, drink and live concerts to the park every Saturday and Sunday through March. The first weekend Toby Keith and Lynyrd Skynyrd performed, followed by a lineup of top classic rock and country artist.
Festivities kick off at 11:30-just in time for lunch. Naturally, there's plenty of barbeque-pulled pork, chicken, ribs even BBQ brisket pizza. Concerts start at 4 p.m. but there's plenty to do besides noshing before the concert. This year, SeaWorld has teamed up with the USO to honor America's military troops during the event. There's even a USO band all the way from New York City. They are Andrew Sisters-style performers who sing patriotic favorites before the featured concert.
Here are our top 7 tips to make the most out of your visit:
#1. First up? You've got to try the barbeque! Try the fried pickles or ribs from Bubbalou's Bodacious Bar-B-Que, SeaWorld's own Sweet and Smokin' BBQ'd half chicken platter or Sonny's ribs, brisket and redneck egg rolls--Or sample something from each!
Claire Watkins came all the way from South Wales to try SeaWorld's own BBQ chicken, cole slaw and French fry combo.
#2. Need something to wash it all down? Beer lovers can visit the craft brew huts to enjoy one beer-or a choice of 10 samples from more than 30 domestic and imported craft beers.
#3. There's professional line dancing instruction. D.Js will spin some country tunes so adults and kids can learn how to line dance with some pros.
#4. Kids can get in on the fun by dancing along with Dolly Dolphin or Shamu, all dressed in their country finest.
#5. Learn about the American bald eagle and pose for a patriotic selfie in the USO garden or try to identify some animal fossils at another station in the garden.
#6. The Groove Chefs, the fun loving trio, also roam the park - and at the grounds of Bands Brew & BBQ to provide some eclectic tunes!
#7. And then there's the music: Lynyrd Skynyrd performed opening weekend. Best known for popularizing the southern hard-rock genre during the ‘70s, they played What's Your Name, Sweet Home Alabama and Freebird, among others.
