By Nicole Cantore

This year, Orlando is home to an incredible two-and-a-half months celebrating the scariest day of the year. It all comes to a head on Oct. 31, a day so packed with adult-oriented Halloween activities, you can spend it doing nothing but having a devilishly good time. Here's your guide to the blowout parties, action-packed attractions and other happy haunts that await this Halloween day in Orlando.

Seeing as Halloween is a celebration of sweets as much as scares, no one will fault you if you decide to have dessert for breakfast. At the Lickety Split Lounge at the Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort, you can nab a Pumpkin Pie Gelato that's perfect for the holiday and the season. Also, the Lickety Split, which opens at 6 a.m., is one of many local eateries offering unique pumpkin treats this fall.

Now that your hunger is sated, it's time for some morning entertainment. Speaking of which, while some say that dressing up for Halloween is the ultimate escape, we suspect they haven't tried one of Orlando's escape rooms. Two of them — Escape Game Orlando and Escape Room Entertainment — have morning sessions available on Oct. 31. Inside, you and your companions can try to beat the clock in fun, themed-escape rooms simulating prison breaks, heists and more.

Ready for lunch? Several local restaurants currently have fall-focused menus as well as pumpkin treats. For instance, just 20 minutes from downtown Orlando in the city of Winter Park, The Ravenous Pig has Pumpkin Crème Brûlée. And if you're ready for an adult beverage, Orlando Brewing in downtown Orlando has Grateful Pumpkin Ale, brewed especially for the season.

Next, set your sights — literally — on International Drive's Zombie Outbreak. You'll be provided with realistic weapon replicas and set loose in a military base overrun with the undead. If you're looking for more shoot-‘em-up thrills, head to Machine Gun America, about 15 minutes away in Kissimmee. Not only does it give you the chance to fire real, exotic weapons with live ammunition, but you can slay even more "walkers" with the attraction's zombie-hunting simulator.

Halloween 2017 Orlando Eye

At the nearby I-Drive 360, the Coca-Cola Orlando Eye is cast in its best Halloween colors and features a giant spider! The destination is also a great place to grab some dinner and shop. Plus, several of its other attractions are honoring the holiday. For instance, at Madame Tussauds Orlando, the wax figure of Tom Hanks is dressed as the actor's popular David S. Pumpkins character from Saturday Night Live.
